Synopsis: This Life' is an honest, compelling look at tough realities that the world faces today. The trials of youth and aging are juxtaposed to deliver a strong statement about the unsettling forces of human nature in a society of technological advancement and unbridled urban 
growth.

Three individuals from different walks of life deal with issues that resolve with startling and tragic consequences, forcing examination of circumstances and choices that could have changed the outcome. An ailing elderly widower, a disaffected, angry young man and a lonely adolescent teenage girl find themselves in situations that quickly go beyond their ability to control. The stories portrayed reflect familiar, everyday events and demonstrate how a single decision can change a life forever.

Biographies:

 SARAH SPILLANE: WRITER/DIRECTOR

Sarah Spillane has been writing and directing film and television for the past ten years. Her directing experience spans across film, television and theatre. She has worked for leading Australian broadcast networks such as Channel Seven, ABC, SBS, and Foxtel, and international broadcasters including the BBC, ITV and Channel Four. 

In the last two years Sarah has won an Australian Director?s Guild Award for her screenplay ?Around The Block? and won multiple festival awards for her films ?The Manual? and ?Australian Tails?. She has written the edgy television drama series ?Darling It Hurts? and is developing a second series called ?3 Miles from the Edge?. Her documentary ?The Apology? which she wrote and directed in February 2008 screened at the United Nations this year and will premiere in Australia on the ABC in February 2009. 

In 2007 Sarah won the Fortissimo Films Award for Emerging Talent at the Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival. Her short films have screened at International Festivals including Berlin, New York, Clermont, London, Hong Kong, and St Petersburg. 

Sarah has just finished directing a television series for National Indigenous Television (Foxtel), and is currently working as a writer/director with Rosemary Blight, Keith Thompson and Deborah Mailman on a new SBS drama series. Sarah will begin pre-production for her debut feature film ?Around The Block? in 2009.
